Here is a question that I recently got and answered. Now that the weather is getting cold, dry skin is inevitable.
Q: The weather’s changing, and my skin is dry
and scaly, even after I use my usual lotion.
What else can I do?
A: When body lotion isn’t enough to tame your
flaky skin, try using a “dry” body oil.
Unlike plain oils, which can be messy and leave your skin greasy and
sticky, dry oils contain additional ingredients that help them spread evenly on
the skin to leave a soft, silky finish.
Here are a few of my new faves:
C. Booth Tahitian Monoi
Dry Oil Spray. This mist
contains apricot and monoi oil, which is coconut oil that’s been pressed with
Tahitian gardenias (also known as tiare flowers). Doesn’t that sound heavenly? You can spray it on after showering or
throughout the day if you’re wearing a skirt or shorts and short sleeves.
Victoria’s
Secret Indulge Me Body Oil. It comes in a handy spray to avoid drips, and it contains a combination
of argan, grape-seed, and monoi oils to leave skin feeling smooth and
moisturized. It comes in four light
scents: jasmine and water lily, white tea and sage, grapefruit and basil, and
orchid and bamboo.
Kiehl's
Superbly Restorative Argan Dry Oil. Actually, this product contains more apricot
than argan oil. It also has cedarwood
and eucalyptus oils, so it has a woodsy scent.
It comes in a bottle rather than a spray, but it’s light and easy to
apply. You can also try rubbing it on the ends of your hair to soften split
ends.
