Are You Lazy When It Comes To Skincare?

Helena Rubinstein once said, "There are no ugly women, just lazy ones." Good skin takes effort, but not as much as you think.  It can just take these few steps that you would never think about to make a difference in your skin's overall health.

Skin Care Tip #1 - Sleep

Sleep
Getting a good night of sleep is essential for having glowing skin. Through the night, as we rest, our skin cells are busy doing repairs. In order to acquire "sufficient sleep", it's more than just putting in the hours. The hours are definitely a component, but the quality weighs more. It is better to get a quality night of sleep, than to have 12 hours of horrible sleep. I'm sure you have experienced the result of a horrible night of sleep.

To get a good night of sleep, it is best to keep stimulants to the minimum near bed time. Examples of stimulants could be:

Caffeine
Television
Vigorous physical activity
Large/Heavy meal
And more . . .

Have you taken this baby step?

Healthy life style changes are difficult, but if successfully adopted, the improvements will last a life time.
Skin Care Tip #2 - Hydration

Water - The healthiest & inexpensive way to healthier skin

Temptations are everywhere. Everywhere you look, you see various "refreshing" drinks being advertised. Unfortunately, the best "refreshing" beverage for our skin is simply - water. It can be iced water, hot water, warm water - as long as it is simply water with no additive. Water is important to our body, especially our skin because it is the most prone to the loss of hydration.

By taking in enough water, it will not only improve your skin, but also your overall health. It is also one of the main components to maintaining a healthy weight!

Keeping yourself hydrated

Staying hydrated will improve your overall health, not just your skin!
This step is often neglected.

Skincare Step #3 Hygiene
What is the first thing you see and last thing you see in a day? Well, for most of us, it's our towel. It is extremely important for us to clean our face before we sleep and after we wake up, because of the oil and dirty accumulated onto our face during day and night. Those dirty and oil build up may result in embarrassing breakouts and annoying black heads!

The other thing that often comes into contact with our face is our pillow case. It is good to have it cleaned at least once a week, but ideally twice a week. Since most of us only do our laundry only once a week, it would be a great idea to have 2 or more pillow cases so it can be changed mid-week. That shouldn't be difficult since most of them come in a pair anyway!

Another step toward healthier skin . . . and a healthier you!

This may require a bit of chores, but laundrys need to be done some time! ^ . ^ Since you have spent the effort to wash your face, it is just as important to keep them clean by NOT wiping your face into a bacteria-infested towel or pillow case!
Have you cleaned or changed your pillowcash and/or towel at least once this week?
Skin Care Tip #4 - Sweat

Sweat, sweat, sweat!

type=textSweat may not be a bad thing!

It can be from running around the block, cleaning your house, to chasing your kids. . . as long as you break a sweat, it's a step forward! By sweating, you are getting rid of the toxins in your body and clearing out your pores. It's a win-win situation!

After you sweat, it is important for you to wash your face and/or shower. The by-product of bacteria is the cause of unpleasant odors. The dirt and oil trapped in the pores will cause acnes and blackheads, so by sweating it out will improve not only your skin but also your overall health!

Sweat? o.O

Sweat can be achieved in many, many, many ways! Sky is the limit!

Sunscreen

type=textMany of us will apply moisturizer on a regular basis, but how many actually apply moisturizer with sunscreen?

Fortunately, the awareness for skin cancer has risen through the years, but many people are still unaware of the harmfulness of the powerful sun rays. It is important to use sunscreen on a regular basis. No one can truthfully claim that they are caring for their skin unless using sunscreen is part of their regular regime. Conveniently, there are many moisturizers that offer 30+ UVA protections.

People usually remember to use sunscreen only when they are going to the beach or are going to be exposed to the sun for long period of time. It's a major misunderstanding! Even on cloudy days, there are UVA rays bouncing around. It's never too late to start, add sunscreen to your daily skin care regime today!

Sunscreen-ing

It's hard to change a routine, but by adding sunscreen to your daily routine will not only help slow your skin's aging process but also keep your skin healthy through the years!

Skin Care Tip #6

Nutrient

Yum!

Other than paying attention to your intake of water, eating enough servings of fruits and vegetables can also help replenish your body's water and vitamin needs. It is better than drinking those flashy vitamin waters because they usually have added sugar. The best foods for your body are the food closes to its natural form. For example, it would be healthier to eat an apple rather than to drink a glass of apple juice. It is better to eat fresh vegetable than to eat canned vegetables. The fresher the better! Every second that it's away from its source, vitamins and nutrients are slipping away.

It is also important for you to consume a balance diet. Lean proteins are great for your body. Food such as salmons and halibuts are an excellent source of omega-3 fatty acids, which are essential for healthy skin.
